Lost in a wormhole of vintage photographs this morning, I happily came across a 20th century Texan photographer I had never heard of, Julius Born. Upon seeing a few portraits he had taken in the early 1900s, I quickly found an entire archive available through The Portal to Texas History, and immediately dove in. While I wasn't able to find much information Born, I did find that he took most of these photos in the back of his variety store in Canadian, Texas. There were too many photos I wanted to share with you so I'm breaking it down into two posts. Today I'm featuring several of the photos taken of Texas women, and soon I'll feature my favorite portraits of the men he photographed. Stay tuned!
Search the archives on your own, I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
