This rare 1920s Art Deco cape is absolutely stunning! An authentic piece of history from a decadent era made of burnished gold metallic embroidered and net. Lavish hand embroidery on gold net with a cut-out lace hemline embroidered with gold. Wide embroidered collar that culminates in long streamer. No other closures, unlined.
I believe this piece was bought in France, as the original owner did a lot of her shopping there. I acquired it from the grandson of the original owner. His grandmother, Lillian, was a New York socialite born in the 1890s and spent a lot of time traveling to Europe and wintering at The Breakers in Palm Beach Florida.
